The Sandy Cove Series

Captivating Characters ~ Suspenseful Storylines ~ Thought-Provoking Themes

Out of a Dream (Book 1)

Set in the fictional coastal community of Sandy Cove, Oregon, Out of a Dream tells the story of a troubled young newlywed, Michelle Baron.

Displaced from her hometown in Southern California, she begins having a series of nightmares. Her quest to understand these dreams leads her to the New World bookstore where she begins a spiritual journey that will challenge her Christian heritage as well as her marriage.

Torn between her love for her husband and the intrigue she finds in her New Age alliances, Michelle wrestles with spiritual forces she cannot see.  A call from home and the family trauma that ensues cause her to confront the battle that is raging for her soul and decide the course of her future.

A fascinating work so relevant in our age of deception. I became engrossed in the lives of the characters and how God continually extends His grace and mercy to make His truth and presence known.

~ Sheila Walker, Pastor's wife, Calvary Chapel Living Word, Irvine, CA

Above All Else (Book 7)

“How am I going to make it through another year of him?” seventeen-year-old Caleb Baron muttered as he pulled out of the driveway and floored the car, leaving screech marks in his tracks. This was the third blow up with his dad that week, and all Caleb could think about was getting through his senior year and getting out of the house for good.

Adopted at birth, Caleb’s relationship with his father has deteriorated into a battle of wills, and Caleb decides to set out on a quest for answers, as he delves into the roots of his past. But will those answers bring him the peace he so desires? Or will he find himself more distraught than ever?

Meanwhile, his sister, Madison, is taking center stage in their family with her upcoming wedding. Her life seems perfect, and their parents are well pleased. With her nursing degree completed and a ring on her finger, she is about to move not only into adulthood, but also to a distant land.

From Caleb’s perspective, Madison has it made. Little does he know that she is about to experience the most challenging year of her life. Is she up to the call God has placed on her and Luke? And when tragedy strikes, will she have the strength to press on?

Through the heartaches and difficulties this brother and sister experience, they must each come to terms with what matters above all else, as they examine their faith and learn to see themselves and their heavenly Father in a new way.

 Through the Tears (Book 2)

Michelle Baron and her family rejoice when her father regains consciousness after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. But a long journey awaits, as they seek to clear his name of the embezzlement charges that drove him to this desperate act.

The days of their vigil at the hospital drag into weeks, and Michelle finds herself repeatedly drawn to the newborn nursery. Observing couples leave with tiny babes in their arms, her heart is stirred, and she begins to yearn for a child of her own. However, an unexpected twist will threaten her new dream.

Through the Tears delivers a message of hope in the midst of longing and disappointment.

I loved Through the Tears. Of particular interest to me (working in the medical profession) was the accurate depiction of Michelle's father while in the hospital and subsequent rehab. The story kept me wanting more — a definite page turner and a MUST read!

From the Heart (Book 5)

After over sixty years of serving God as a pastor’s wife, Joan Walker is now a widow facing heart-wrenching questions. How can she survive by herself? Should she leave the cozy home where she and Phil raised their children, a home filled with so many wonderful memories? But if she stays, how will she be able to take care of the place? And won’t she be terribly lonely?

When an accident forces her to make a decision about her future, Joan agrees to pack up and move close to her daughter and granddaughter in another state. In the process of sorting through her lifelong possessions, she stumbles on something her husband left behind—a treasure of Christmas gifts from the heart that will bless the entire family and carry Joan through the difficult days and months ahead, as she learns to seek God’s will and purpose for the remainder of her life.

From the Heart—a Christmas novella sure to bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart.

For a Season (Book 8)

A young couple face a bright future serving God together. Then an unexpected pregnancy leads to a devastating diagnosis. How will their marriage and their faith weather the storm?

“Please give us a call as soon as you get home. The doctor would like to see you and Luke to discuss the results of your blood test,” the receptionist said.

A knot formed in Madison’s gut. She hadn’t had a baby before, but her nurse’s training took over as she began to contemplate everything that could possibly go wrong. It seemed like a red flag that the doctor wanted to see both of them.

What Madison and Luke are about to learn will break their hearts and lead them on a journey no parents want to take. Will their faith carry them through this devastating time, as they cling to God and each other?

For a Season is a story of God working through brokenness as He redeems the heartbreak of two of His children.

Into Magnolia (Book 3)

As Michelle Baron ascends the steps of Magnolia Middle School, her life is about to change forever. The dream of becoming a teacher leads her on an unexpected journey that will challenge her professionally and personally. Although 180 students file through her classroom daily, one demands her attention more than the others. Amber Gamble's bitterness and rebellion spark a challenge within Michelle to somehow make a difference in this troubled girl's life.

Meanwhile, Michelle's daughter develops a series of unexplainable bruises. A stunning visit to the pediatrician reveals frightening possibilities. While Michelle tries to hold her fears at bay, Amber approaches her with a daunting crisis of her own.

Into Magnolia reveals the internal struggles and triumphs of a dedicated teacher, and the power of love to transform lives.

I was drawn in from the very beginning and could not put it down.  The experiences in the book are true to life, and are relatable. I love how it is not a fairy tale, but rather, a scenario that happens all the time in the real world. Michelle and Amber's story touched my heart. A must read!!

Behind Her Smile (Book 6)
Not good enough…the words echo in Madison Baron’s mind as the darkness presses her to be thinner, more beautiful—somehow more attractive to her peers.

A junior in high school, she is facing life without her childhood love, Luke Johnson, who is off to college in the Midwest. Alone with her insecurities, Madison yearns for acceptance—until Miles that is. Will a relationship with this new student on campus be the answer she seeks? And how will his resistance to her Christian faith affect her future?

As the two of them grow closer and closer, something happens inside of Madison, and she finds herself more insecure than ever. Gazing into the mirror at her thinning face and trendy makeup, she hopes no one sees the fear behind her smile.

The sixth book in the Sandy Cove Series, Behind Her Smile, touches hearts of young and old alike with the message of God’s redemption and love, reminding us that our true sufficiency and value come from Him and Him alone.
