Rosemary Hines spins tales from her heart that carry readers along on a shared journey with the very real characters in her books. These are the type of stories that stay with you long after you’ve finished the last page, becoming a poignant memory that calls us to respond to the Father’s love. Highly recommended!

Into Magnolia is a book that is a must read for all Christians called to teach. I found the book both captivating and inspiring, and I was reminded of the powerful impact teachers can have on their charges.—

Rosemary Hines weaves an intricate story, which immediately draws the reader into a relationship with her characters. In the tale of a woman searching for significance in life, we travel along with Michelle through her journey as she encounters immediate temptation in her young marriage, devastation after her father’s attempted suicide, and the seductive appeal of New Age “enlightenment”. The author captivates her readers with intrigue, poignancy, and the transforming power of a personal relationship with Jesus, which finally awakens Michelle Out of a Dream.

This engaging novel quickly introduces you to characters that parallel people in our own lives. Shaped by traits that enhance the plausibility of the plot, you could swear that you’ve met them all before. Out of a Dream resonates with a theme of how people often go ‘looking for love in all the wrong places’ when seeking spirituality. The beauty here is that although some explore false approaches to knowing God, there is hope for everyone who diligently seeks the truth.

Co-author of Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Soul Christmas Treasure for Kids

Rosemary Hines weaves a compelling true-to-llfe story in the Sandy Cove Series that is hard to put down.  I highly recommend this series for all ages who are seeking truth and are looking in all the wrong places.

- SHARON LEAF,

author of Lady and the Sea

Out of a Dream held my interest from the first chapter. I wanted to know what would happen to Michelle and had to keep reading. The story was interesting and realistic, with suspense and a touch of romance – just the way I like it.

JAN MCCANTS,

Administrative Assistant, Christian Liberty School

This book reads like a true-to-life novel. The author does a wonderful job of creating a character that is both believable and personable. It is refreshing to read a Christian novel that isn’t sugarcoated, portraying a character that is hard to relate to. Just the opposite with this novel; the author takes you from the character’s point in life before she received her salvation and walks you through her struggles as she searches for answers in the wrong places. I especially appreciate the strong Christian message that is woven into the story line of Out of a Dream.

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20. We are living in an age that mirrors these words spoken by the prophet Isaiah. In Out of a Dream, Rosemary Hines exposes the subtle, destructive lure of the New Age movement. The story is engaging; the characters are our family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. The message of Christ is woven throughout the story and is unmistakably clear. I believe this book will give hope to those who have loved ones in the New Age movement, and it will open the eyes of those who are blinded to its dangers.

TERRY WALKER,

Senior Pastor, Calvary Chapel Living Word, Irvine, CA

A fascinating word so relevant to our age of deception. I became engrossed in the lives of the characters and how God continually extends His grace and mercy to make His truth and presence known.

SHEILA WALKER,

Pastor’s wife, former high school and church librarian

Out of a Dream is an engaging book that brings spiritual awareness to its readers. Rosemary Hines removes the blanket of deception that covers the New Age movement, unveiling the truth: Jesus is the one light, the one truth; all other paths attempting enlightenment lead to confusion and destruction. Hines’ characters are gripping and very real. I felt compelled to keep reading, completely consumed by this tale of one girl’s search for truth, the Truth.

MISTY STUTES,

Out of a Dream is a powerful story. Michelle, the main character, is a realistic portrayal of the search for meaning. This theme is woven throughout in such a believable manner that I couldn’t help but cheer and cry as Michelle struggled to find her answers. You will miss Michelle after finishing this skillfully written book.

PATRICIA EVERTS,

Junior high English teacher, Ensign Intermediate School

When I read Out of a Dream, I couldn’t put the book down. It held my attention right from the beginning. I had to get the next book to find out what happens. I read both these books while recovering from brain surgery. I am looking forward to reading the next book. I am so glad I listened to the book recommendation at the retreat I had been on.

MARION MCCARRICK,

Pastor’s wife, Cornerstone Calvary Chapel, New Jersey

Out of a Dream was a great book. What attracted me most to it is the fact that the characters were believable. So often in novels, the characters are so unrealistic that the story doesn’t seem real. This novel seemed like a real life story, and it caught my attention — so much so that I read it in two days! I look forward to the next book in the series.

JOANNE SANBORN LEE,

The content, storyline, and character development in Rosemary Hines Sandy Cove series are excellent. As a book reviewer for Calvary Chapel ministries, one thing is of utmost importance to me in recommending a book, especially a novel – does it have ministry value? The answer with Rosemary’s books is off-the-charts YES!

KATHY GILBERT,

Amazing! Couldn’t put it down. A truly amazing series!

I finished Through the Tears last night! Wonderful! I am not a crier, but I had a hard time holding back the tears! I am super excited about the next book!!!!

SONNIE WILKINSON,

I finished Through the Tears last night. It held my attention continuously. It is very well written and the ongoing story flows smoothly. Can’t wait for the third book in the series, and I hope there will be many more to come.

JIM NORTON,

retired security professional

I loved Through the Tears. Of particular interest to me (working in the medical profession) was the accurate depiction of Michelle’s father while in the hospital and subsequent rehab. The story kept me wanting more and was definitely a page-turner!! I look forward to the sequel coming out... a MUST read!

SONIA OPSAHL,

registered nurse

Through the Tears captured my attention from the beginning. I love to read, but I have many books that have been put aside due to a lack of interest. Rosemary Hines has once again developed a story in such a manner that one can’t wait for the next page. Each character has come alive to me, and she has become one of my favorite authors.

DEBBY WEAVER,

avid reader of fiction

The only problem I had with this book is that it ended...I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

ANITA LUCARELLI,

Administrative Assistant Rancho Santiago Community College District

This was a great read. I was drawn in from the very beginning and could not put it down. People from all walks of life will enjoy following Michelle on her journey. I am greatly anticipating the next book in this series. Definitely worth reading!!

JAMIE HARVEY,

social worker

This story was amazing! I simply fell in love with Michelle and her husband Steve. A good book becomes a good friend, and I cannot wait for the next book to continue to read about my good friend ‘Michelle’ and the continuation of her life ... in the pages of a book! Read this book; it is priceless!

VERNIECE LOUNSBURY,

graduate of Westmont College, avid fiction reader

Rosemary Hines engages the reader from the very first chapter. The characters become so real you want to yell through the printed page, “No! Don’t do that!” when they are about to embark into dangerous activities. I cannot wait until the sequel becomes available so that I will be able to connect with the characters again.

DORIS MOORE,

retired middle school teacher

I could not put down this book! I was quickly swept into Michelle’s world and engrossed in the familiar details of her life and relationships. The story is filled with believable characters and recognizable problems.

KELLY MOREDOCK,

homemaker, wife, and mom

The method Rosemary Hines uses to engage the reader is an entertaining, easy to read story that is full of well-developed, likeable characters. It is not a book of good guys versus bad guys but rather the journey many of us have taken in life. Hines can deliver a powerful message in a gentle manner. I eagerly await the next book and Michelle’s outcome like she was my own daughter.

LONA CHRISTENSEN,

financial business manager

As much as I enjoyed Rosemary Hines’ first book Out of a Dream, Through the Tears captured me from the first page. Rosemary skillfully develops her characters as real people. She unwraps New Age deceptions and the struggles of a new marriage. Through the Tears is a realistic, believable story with some unexpected twists. Never a dull moment! Can’t wait to read the next one!

JANET BELCHER,

Women’s Ministry leader

Ms. Hines’ skill lies in creating a story about the lives of very human people that easily allows you to relate as you enter into their world of personal conflict and the spiritual growth that results. I’m excited to hear what happens next in Michelle and her family’s lives!

LINDA HELLER,

Pediatric Dietician at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and Editor

I love to read good fiction, but as a pastor and youth leader (as well as husband and father!) my time is limited. When I do read, I long for a well-written, deeply satisfying, strongly God-centered novel that not only takes me away, but also builds me up in my faith. Many Christian novels seem to simply have a professing Christian character and a mention of God, but Out of a Dream and Through the Tears are refreshingly different. Both are wonderful stories that pull you quickly into the characters’ lives and hearts, and make you attached to them from the start. I have been truly blessed by these two novels, as well as challenged, built up, taught, and entertained. I recommend them to anyone looking for a story that is wonderfully written and also God-filled and thought provoking. I can’t wait to read Into Magnolia!

ERICK REINSTEDT,

Pastor, True Life Christian Fellowship, Lockwood, California

I highly recommend this series by Rosemary Hines! Each of the characters is so well developed that they leave a lasting impression on you long after you’ve read the final chapter. Powerful messages that resonate throughout these books include: a chilling warning to stay clear of the occult; exhortation to pray diligently for those you love, and encouragement to hold fast to your confidence in Christ no matter what.
