But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not us.
~ 2 Cor. 4:7

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.

Hidden Treasure

I sit and think about the things I treasure ~ family, friends, and so much more.

God whispers, “And I treasure you.”

I pause. In the silence, I hear it again. “I treasure you.”

I think about that for awhile. Here in my quiet space at the kitchen table, I think about what it means to be God’s treasure. That He looks down and sees an ordinary, flawed person and sees treasure.

As I breathe in this concept, He reminds me of the hidden treasures that He’s surrounded me with.

“Breathe. The unseen oxygen that surrounds you ~ it’s My gift.”

“Listen. That sweet song you hear in the trees ~ from Me.”

“Look. The bright, blooming fushias ~ those are My bouquet for you.”

Treasures. Everyday, He surrounds me with them. Seeks to fill my senses with them.

Why do I so rarely see that? So busy trying to earn a love that’s been freely given already?

The clock ticks in my quiet place. A reminder that today will soon pass. Will I miss the treasures He sends?

Dear Lord,
Open my eyes, my heart, my mind to Your love, to all the treasures You give today. May I see, hear, smell, taste, and feel every one of them. And may I remember the Hand from which they came.
